Coffee shop owner charged for allegedly having sex with minor (updated)
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - The owner of Press Coffee and Tea Lounge in downtown Rochester was arrested over the weekend after allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old boy.
Christopher Holloway, 44, has been formally charged with one count of felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to a report by the Post-Bulletin.
Rochester police tell KTTC-TV that the teen's mother found Holloway having sexual contact with the boy early Sunday morning. Holloway reportedly left the home, but was later tracked down by police and arrested.
A criminal complaint shows Holloway met the boy Friday night on a social media site. KAAL-TV reports Holloway questioned whether the teen was 18 when the two met. The teen reportedly told Holloway he was 14, but the two still had sex.
Signs posted on the coffee shop's entrances say the business is "closed for the holidays." The same message was posted on the business's Facebook page (since been removed). It's unclear when or if the business plans to reopen.
Press Coffee opened in 2013 after Holloway launched a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter. The project received more than $15,000 from 137 different donors.
Holloway served as president/CEO of the Rochester Elks Lodge from April 2013 to March 2014, according to his LinkedIn account. He is also involved in local politics and occasionally holds Republican rallies at his coffee shop.
