Two pedestrians hospitalized after being struck downtown

Two women were transported to St. Marys Hospital after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning in downtown Rochester.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. at the intersection of 2nd Street SW and 1st Avenue SW. According to police, the driver did not see the pedestrians crossing as she turned onto 2nd Street and subsequently struck them.

One woman suffered a broken leg; the other injured her jaw. Neither injury was considered life threatening. The driver could be cited for failing to stop at the crosswalk.
