Annual Veterans Day program to be held Wednesday in Rochester

The public is invited to attend the 15th annual Veterans Day program Wednesday morning at the Rochester International Event Center.

Free breakfast will be served from 8:30-10, courtesy of Power Ventures. The hour-long program, scheduled to begin at 10:30, will feature Harry Popiel, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who has worked to bring a new veterans memorial to Waseca County.

There will also be poetry, music and a posting of the colors by local honor guard groups. Bells will be rung by Terry Throndson and Lee Swendson, a WWII veteran who is celebrating his 103rd birthday on Veterans Day.

Also on Wednesday, local Hy-Vee stores and Perkins restaurants will offer service members and veterans free breakfast. Click here for more Veterans Day events in southeast Minnesota.
