Pedestrian seriously injured in crash Sunday morning

A Rochester man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pickup truck early Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 5:15 a.m. in the 600 block of 37th Street NW. According to police, the 50-year-old driver was traveling eastbound when the pedestrian jumped in front of his vehicle.

The victim, Aurelio Celis Gomez, 25, was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition. No charges are expected. The accident remains under investigation by RPD's Forensic Mapping Unit.
