Pedestrian killed in crash just north of downtown Rochester

A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night in Rochester.

Paul Ohnstad, 60, of Rochester, was hit by a vehicle around 9:30 p.m. while attempting to cross Civic Center Drive. The scene of the accident (shown above) was located just north of downtown, near Bilotti's Pizzeria.

Ohnstad was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries. Emergency responders tried issuing CPR without any success.

According to police, neither alcohol or speed were believed to be factors in the crash. The driver, a 26-year-old Plainview man, was not issued a citation.
