Suspect wanted following attempted bank robbery in Rochester

Rochester police are looking for a suspect who they say tried to rob a bank Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to the U.S. Bank at 376 Northern Valley Place NE just after 12:30 p.m. to a holdup alarm.

According to the police report, the suspect entered the building and handed a teller a threatening note demanding money. It is unclear whether the suspect was actually armed.

The teller did not have a cash drawer open so she began walking away from the suspect. At that point, the suspect fled the scene. He was likely picked up by a vehicle, says the report.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6'3", thin, and likely in his early 20s.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Travis Riggott at (507) 328-6898 or Crime Stoppers of Rochester & Olmsted County at 1-800-222-TIPS. You can remain anonymous.
