Update: Monday night's fatal crash victim identified as Rochester man

A local man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday evening near Elgin. 

The State Patrol responded to the scene just before 6 p.m.

According to the incident report, Brian Mueske, 51, of Rochester, was traveling southbound in a sedan on Highway 42 when he crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming SUV.

The second driver, a 53-year-old Elgin woman, was not seriously injured.

Elgin Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance provided additional assistance on scene.

A wintry mix of rain and snow was hitting the area at the time of the crash. The road surface was listed as icy in the state patrol's report.
