Erbert & Gerbert's looking for a new downtown location

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Erbert & Gerbert's is pulling out of downtown Rochester, for now.

The sandwich shop closed Sunday after more than a decade of business in the Brackenridge Skyway Plaza (see map).

"We look forward to serving you from a new location downtown in the near future," reads a sign left on the door.

Owner Jake Dettinger confirmed to the Post-Bulletin's Jeff Kriger that he is now looking for a new location. In the meantime, the northwest Erbert & Gerbert's will offer delivery to customers downtown.

Baheya LLC from Abu Dhabi purchased the Brackenridge Skyway Plaza last year for close to $10 million, according to a report by the Star Tribune. The purchase price of the building was twice its estimated value.

Erbert & Gerbert’s opened its first location 27 years ago in Eau Claire, Wis. The sandwich shop now has more than 50 locations across the U.S., according to its website.
