Crews were putting up a wall on the third level of a new hotel when part of a forklift unexpectedly dropped and hit a worker, according to a report by KAAL-TV.

The Post-Bulletin reports the victim has been identified as James Benjamin Sandmire (went by the name "Ben Baird"), 30, of  Lehi, Utah. He reportedly died about an hour after the incident at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus.

Police tell KROC-AM he was an employee of the Far West construction company.

Baird leaves behind four young children, according to a fundraising page set up for his family. The campaign has already raised more than $40,000.
