Two people arrested following pursuit through Olmsted County (updated)

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Two people were arrested Wednesday night after leading police on a chase through northern Olmsted County in a stolen vehicle.

Left to right: Courtney Archer and  David Collier

KTTC-TV reports the incident began when a state trooper attempted to stop a pickup truck that had been reported stolen in Rochester one day earlier. The driver reportedly failed to stop, and instead led officers on a 15-minute chase down a series of back roads.

The chase ended in a field along County Road 12 near Oronoco. Two squad cars were heavily damaged in the pursuit, notes a report by KAAL-TV.

A state trooper, described as a 16-year law enforcement veteran, fired his weapon several times at the truck. He has been placed on administrative leave, which is typical when an officer fires a weapon.

David Collier, 25, and Courtney Archer, 24, were taken into custody. They could be arraigned in Olmsted County Court as soon as Friday, notes KIMT-TV.
