Bullets found in nearby residences after shooting (updated)
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Police are looking for at least one suspect following a shooting Saturday afternoon in SE Rochester that left a man injured.
Police were first called to an apartment complex in the 500 block of 14th Street SE around 2:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the lower leg.
The victim, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus with non-life threatening injuries. He was later released.
The victim told officers that he was shot by somebody he did not know while talking on a cell phone in a parking lot outside the apartment building.
He said three individuals immediately fled the scene after the shooting. Witnesses offered conflicting reports on the number of suspects.
The shooter was described as a black male last seen wearing a black hoodie.
At least three other rounds were fired, police said. Two of the bullets wound up in nearby residences that were occupied at the time. No one was injured, though one bullet was found in a dresser just feet away from where a man was resting on his bed.
