Two men arrested following chase through SE Rochester

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Two men were arrested Friday following a foot and car chase through southeast Rochester.

The chase began around 11 a.m. in the 400 block of 6th Street SE after two plainclothes police officers recognized a man wanted on a felony parole warrant from the Minnesota Department Of Corrections.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Robert Collins, immediately ran away from officers. He was later spotted getting into a car near the Kmart store, police said.

That set off a brief vehicle pursuit; however, it was soon called off due to public safety concerns.

Officers discovered Collins hiding in a home in the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue SE a short time later. Police said the Collins broke into the home without the owner's consent.

The driver of the car, who has not yet been identified, was found hiding in a nearby shed.
