Police: No indication of foul play in missing person's case

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Officers will search an undisclosed area in north Rochester on Monday in an effort to find a man who has been missing since the middle of last week.

William "Harry" Hempy, a 21-year-old college student, was last heard from on March 25 around 4 p.m. He told his father in a phone call that he was going for a run and would not attend a prior commitment.

Police said on Monday that Hempy's phone has been shut off and that he not contacted any friends or family members. He was scheduled to return to the University of Illinois on Sunday, but his train ticket went unused.

Hempy's family told police that he seemed "fine" and "happy" the last time they spoke.

"There is no indication of anything criminal, " said Capt. John Sherwin, noting that the department is still exploring "all possibilities."

Hempy was home visiting his family on spring break. He was scheduled to graduate college in six weeks.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
