Police: More than 60 commercial burglaries reported since Jan. 1

Police: More than 60 commercial burglaries reported since Jan. 1

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - About 60 commercial burglaries have been reported since Jan. 1, according to the Rochester Police Department.

As a result, the department has stopped issuing fines to businesses for false alarms. The goal is to encourage more businesses to report possible break-ins.

Burglars have targeted an array of businesses — from restaurants to warehouses to dental offices — all over the city. Police say it's unlikely the burglaries are being coordinated by one group, though some do appear to be connected.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Rochester & Olmsted County at 1-800-222-TIPS. You can remain anonymous.
