Woman home sick from work prevents burglary in SW Rochester

Woman home sick from work prevents burglary in SW Rochester

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - A sick day may have helped prevent a burglary in southwest Rochester Wednesday morning.

A "woman in her 60s" called police around 10 a.m. to report that two men tried to break into her home in the 1800 block of Spel Lane SW.

The men allegedly smashed a window in the back of the house, but ran away as soon as the woman yelled that she was calling the police.

No entry was made and nothing was taken. The woman told police she had stayed home from work that day because of an illness.

The suspects were described as white males; no other details were given.

Correction: A prior version of this story stated the incident happened Thursday morning, when it actually happened on Wednesday.
