Rochester man arrested with more than $25K in methamphetamine
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Execution of a pair of felony arrest warrants led police to more than a half pound of methamphetamine.
The Rochester Street Crimes Unit, with assistance from a pair of officers from Owatonna, arrested Manuel Hinojosa, 32, on Wednesday.
Hinojosa had outstanding warrants out for his arrest in both Olmsted and Steele counties. The Steele County incident involved a vehicle pursuit through Owatonna, according to police.
Investigators received information that Hinojosa could be found at car dealership in the 2500 block of North Broadway. When officers arrived, they located the suspect and arrest him after a "brief physical struggle."
Officers found 27 grams of meth in Hinojosa's possession, says a police report. More importantly, they found a pair of hotel keys and a girlfriend willing to cooperate with them.
The woman led police to a hotel in south Rochester where police found seven bags of meth, each containing about 30 grams.
Police said the total amount of meth seized on Wednesday was 238.2 grams of meth, about 8 1/2 ounces. Capt. John Sherwin said the drugs, depending on quality, could be worth more than $25,000.
Hinojosa now faces charges of first-degree sales and possession, in addition the pending charges in Steele County. His girlfriend was not charged.
