An announcement on the future of the historic Chateau Theatre is expected Wednesday morning.

Speakers will include Mayor Ardell Brede and Civic Theatre Executive Director Gregory Stavrou. Local community partners involved with the collaboration will also be present.

The city council approved the acquisition of the 88-year-old building in May for a cost of $6 million. The theater has sat empty since the end of last year when Barnes and Nobles moved out

Event details:

  • Wednesday, July 29 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Peace Plaza, in front of the Chateau Theatre
  • Public welcome to attend

Correction: A previous version of this article stated the event will be held on Wednesday, July 28 when, in fact, the date is July 29.
