Eyota resident assaulted after giving man ride home from Rochester bar

An Eyota man, 25, was assaulted by a group of men early Sunday morning after giving one of them a ride home from a downtown Rochester bar.

The incident was reported around 2:30 a.m. According to the police report, the victim brought the man to the area of 14th Street and Fifth Ave. SE. 

When the victim stopped the car, four or five other men were waiting outside. The group allegedly assaulted the victim and stole his iPhone.

The victim was able to escape without any serious injuries. He waited until he arrived back in Eyota to call police, the report says.

The suspect in the vehicle was described as a Somali male, 20-25 years old, about 5'8", with a thin build. He was wearing a baseball cap, black t-shirt and jeans.

The other suspects were believed to be Somali males. However, the victim was unable to provide detailed descriptions.
