Man in custody assaults health care worker, spits on security guard
Police say a man in custody assaulted a nurse and spit on a security guard after getting a trip to the ER for sticking a foreign object into his rectum.
James Newsom, 23, also threatened to come back and "shoot up the place," according to a police report. He was receiving treatment at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Newsom was in custody following an arrest last weekend for disturbing a Jehovah's Witnesses convention at the Mayo Civic Center.
He was also arrested last year for allegedly threatening someone at knife-point.
A judge on Thursday ordered Newsom undergo a mental health evaluation. He is currently in custody at the Adult Detention Center.
