Mugging reported near Mayo Park in Rochester

Mugging reported near Mayo Park in Rochester

A mugging was reported late Wednesday night near Mayo Park in Rochester.

According to police, a 33-year-old man was walking down a trail just north of Roscoe's around 10:15 p.m. when two men on bicycles approached him and demanded his money.

When he resisted, they allegedly knocked him down to the ground. The victim reported to police that one of the men displayed a knife.

The suspects took off with an envelope of cash. Police declined to say how much money the victim was carrying at the time of the alleged mugging. Investigators don't believe he knew the suspects.

The victim suffered a minor cut to his right forearm. He did not realize the slash in his arm until officers pointed it out, a police report says.

The suspects are both described as white males, around the age of 30, 5'10", with average builds. The man with the knife was wearing a plaid shirt with jeans; the other suspect was wearing dark shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Rochester & Olmsted County at 1-800-222-TIPS. You can remain anonymous.
