Rochester woman accused of crashing stolen vehicle in SW Rochester

A Rochester woman was arrested early Tuesday morning after crashing a stolen vehicle in a residential neighborhood.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 11th Street SW, just a couple blocks west of the Soldiers Field golf course. Officers had been following the vehicle for several blocks, according to the police report.

The driver, identified as Sophia Forsman, 22, and a male passenger were removed from the vehicle at gunpoint. Another male passenger was extricated by the Rochester Fire Department. Only minor injuries were reported.

Authorities say Forsman was under the influence of a stimulant at the time. She faces a slew of felony charges, including criminal vehicular operation and 1st-degree DWI. One of the passengers was also arrested on an unrelated warrant.

Forsman told police that she does not remember where the vehicle came from. According to the sheriff's office, the 2001 Chevy pickup truck was reported stolen Monday morning out of Stewartville.
