Stabbing reported outside SE Rochester apartment complex
A Rochester man was stabbed following an altercation between two groups Sunday evening outside a Rochester apartment complex.
Police responded to Meadow Park Apartments around 8 p.m. to a report of a large fight. However, the scene cleared by the time officers arrived.
A short time later, police received a report that an 18-year-old man had arrived at St. Marys Hospital with a stab wound. The injury was non-life threatening.
The victim, who was "somewhat cooperative," told police that he had been playing basketball with some friends when a group of Somali males confronted them. Two other friends were also stabbed, he said.
Investigators tried to contact the other two possible victims, but they declined to cooperate. The mother of one of the males told authorities she was aware of the incident, but that they were "not going to speak with police."
The confrontation was between a group of Somali males and black (non-Somali) males, according to police.
The suspect who allegedly stabbed the 18-year-old is described as a Somali male, about 5'10", with shortly curly hair. He was wearing a blue shirt and khaki shorts at the time of the incident.
