Mayor Brede invited to attend event welcoming Pope Francis to the U.S.

Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede is headed to the naton's capital later this month to meet the Pope.

The mayor has accepted an invitation to join President Barack Obama and others in welcoming Pope Francis to the White House on Sept. 23.

“Whatever it is, it’s always, for me it’s a privilege an honor to be able to represent this city at some pretty significant things, and this is pretty significant," Brede said in a news release.

Francis will also visit NYC and Philadelphia during his first-ever trip to the U.S.
