Three men accused of assaulting, robbing man at Rochester hotel

Three men were arrested early Thursday morning after they allegedly assaulted and robbed a 38-year-old male at a Rochester hotel.

Police first responded to the Red Carpet Inn on South Broadway around 1:40 a.m. after getting a call from a hotel manager that three men were observed trespassing on the property.

When officers arrived, they found a man with injuries to his head and face. He told police that three men had stolen his wallet and taken off.

Officers were able to identify the three suspects using surveillance video from the hotel.

Less than an hour later, police responded to a call of a disturbance in the 10 block of 4th Street SW. Officers immediately recognized the individuals as the suspects involved in the earlier robbery.

Two of the suspects, along with a woman, took off running but were apprehended a short time later. The third suspect was arrested without incident.

Sharif Elkarib, 24, Keith West, 22, and Dyresse Brown, 20, all of Rochester, face felony charges of 2nd-degree robbery, 3rd-degree riot and 5th-degree assault. West and Brown also face misdemeanor fleeing charges for running from officers.

According to the police report, the three men showed up to the hotel following a dispute over money between the woman and the male victim.  The woman is considered a cooperating witness and does not face any charges.
