Police searching for suspect following sexual assault in downtown Rochester
Rochester police are looking for a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted early Sunday morning in downtown Rochester.
Officers responded to Olmsted Medical Center around 3:25 a.m. after the victim, 22, arrived to the hospital with bruises to her face. She told authorities she had been sexually assaulted near the Third Street parking ramp.
According to the police report, the assault happened just after midnight. The woman was walking back to her car after drinking at a downtown bar.
After temporarily losing consciousness, the victim said she awoke to a man on top of her. She told police that the man took her shirt and bra off, and then threatened to kill her if she yelled for help.
The suspect is described as a black male, about 230 pounds, with braided hair. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a black knit hat and a bandanna over his mouth. Investigators are searching for surveillance video of the incident.
