Celebrating Prince: Public dance party to be held in Rochester

A public dance party will be held Friday night in Rochester's Cooke Park Design District to celebrate the life and music of Prince.

The event is being organized by Brianna Prudoehl, owner of Fox & Fern Floral, and Ben Assef of Northern Sun Productions. Both businesses are part of the Design District, which is located just north of the city's downtown.

The party is scheduled to begin around 8 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear pajamas, a popular theme for dance parties held at Prince's Paisley Park.

On Thursday night, thousands of fans gathered at First Avenue in Minneapolis to pay tribute to the late singer. An investigation into his death could take weeks; however, officials say there are no indications of suicide or foul play.

In addition to the dance party in the Design District, DJ Gavin Boss will be playing Prince's greatest hits throughout the night at the Loop.
