Rochester companies nominated for U.S. Chamber's Small Business of the Year Awards

Two local businesses are receiving national attention.

Brandhoot and Xylo Technologies, both tech companies based in Rochester, have been nominated as finalists for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's 2017 Dream Big Small Business of the Year Awards.

The awards recognize small businesses that have demonstrated an "exemplary level of leadership and community engagement to positively impact the quality of life in its community and to service the needs of its customers, employees, and neighbors."

Seventeen businesses across the country were nominated as finalists this year. The winner will receive a $25,000 cash prize and national recognition at the 2017 Small Business Summit, to be held this September in Washington, D.C.

"These businesses made our Chamber the only Chamber in the United States with more than one finalist, and both businesses are the only Minnesota finalists for this award,” Rob Miller, president of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce, said in a news release.

Online voting will take place through July 31. Each business’ score will combine its online voting total with the judges' evaluations. You can vote here for Brandhoot or here for Xylo Technologies

This is not the first time the U.S. Chamber has recognized either business. Both received "Blue Ribbon" awards in 2015 as one of the top 100 small businesses in the country.
