Mayo to say 'thank you' to Rochester with block party and light show

Mayo to say 'thank you' to Rochester with block party and light show

Mayo Clinic is saying "thank you" to Rochester with a block party and synchronized drone light show on Monday, September 10.

The events, to be held outside the Mayo Civic Center, are being billed as a celebration of the community's role in Mayo's success. The clinic was recently named the nation's best hospital for the third consecutive year.

The block party will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on the civic center plaza. There will be food, drinks and music from Rochester singer Annie Mack. Admission to the event is free.

Following the block party, there will be a showing of the new Ken Burns documentary inside the civic center's Taylor Arena. Two-thousands tickets (needed in advance) are being given away to the public for the screening.

Then after the film is shown, the public is invited to stop by Mayo Park for a first-of-its-kind light show offering a "dramatic visual retelling of the story of Mayo Clinic through the use of lighted, synchronized drones." The light display will begin at approximately 10:15 p.m.
