Storm system expected to dump 'significant snow' on Rochester area

The National Weather Service is advising people across the region to reconsider their travel plans as a "complex storm system" begins to move into the area.

Significant snow accumulations are possible, according to the NWS in La Crosse, ranging from 6 to 10 inches across southeast Minnesota into west central and central Wisconsin.

In addition to heavy snow, light freezing rain is also possible. North winds are expected to increase Tuesday with gusts up to 30 mph west of the Mississippi River. These winds may cause some patchy blowing and drifting snow, making Tuesday commutes difficult.
