The Night Market returning to downtown Rochester this summer

The Night Market will return to downtown Rochester this summer with an expanded lineup of events, organizers announced on Thursday.

Beginning in July, the markets will be held every other Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m. at 307 East Center Street, in the parking lot across the river from Mayo Field and across the street from the Rochester Civic Theatre.

Each event will feature up to 14 vendors, on a rotating basis, according to the announcement. Tiffany Alexandria, the founder of the The Night Market series, said the expanded schedule and more intimate venue will allow customers to build regular relationships with vendors.

“I want The Night Market to be an incubator,” said Alexandria. “My goal is to cultivate vendors. Switching to smaller, more frequent events allows the vendors to be more successful. It also makes this more sustainable.”

To encourage new vendors, particularly BIPOC participants, Alexandria has enlisted the help of Minn-Jinn Tong, a chef and intercultural consultant.

A grand Night Market finale will be held on Sept. 10 outside the Mayo Civic Center, in the same space where the series debuted last summer. The larger event will coincide with the Mid Autumn Festival, one of the biggest holidays in Chinese and East Asian cultures.

Night Market dates: July 2, July 16, July 30, Aug. 13, Aug. 27, Sept. 10
