(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Rochester Public Schools will start two hours late on Friday because of inclement weather.

According to the school district:

  • There will be no morning School Age Child Care, except for Longfellow 45/15 SACC students. Longfellow’s SACC will open at Longfellow at 10:30 a.m.
  • There will be no morning Early Childhood Education classes. Classes that begin at noon or later will be held.
  • Community Education morning classes will not meet. Classes that begin at noon or later will be held.

The school district has also canceled all evening classes, activities and athletics Thursday evening.

A blizzard warning for the region is in effect through 3 a.m. Friday. The National Weather Service says a combination of snow and strong winds will create white-out conditions. Officials in several southeast Minnesota counties are recommending people stay off the roads, unless absolutely necessary.

The school district canceled school Wednesday because of the brutal cold.
