List of this year's transportation projects in Olmsted County
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation on Thursday announced a list of 290 transportation projects that will be worked on this season.
About a quarter of the $1 billion MnDOT will spend in 2015 will fund projects in southeast Minnesota.
A sizable portion of the regional funding will go toward two bridge projects: the Highway 43 bridge in Winona and the I-90 Dresbach Bridge, a joint effort by Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Here is a list of the construction projects in Olmsted County:
Highway 14 in Olmsted County
Description: Roundabout at Highway 14-Highway 42, Eyota
Construction Dates: May 8 – July 8, 2014
Construction Bid: $2.7 million
Traffic Impacts: Detour.
Status: Rochester Sand and Gravel
Highway 42 in Olmsted, Wabasha counties
Description: Resurfacing between Eyota and Plainview
Construction Dates: June 15 – Sept.15, 2015
Construction Estimate: $5,831,000
Traffic Impacts: Four to six-week detour, then daily lane closures with flaggers.
Status: Contract to be let on April 24, 201
Highway 52 in Olmsted County (Project 1)
Description: Intelligent Transportation System, Rochester to Elk Run interchange
Construction Dates: Summer 2015
Construction Estimate: $350,000
Traffic Impacts: None
Status: Contract to be let on June 5, 2015
Highway 52 in Olmsted County (Project 2)
Description: Replace lighting luminaries with LED lights along 8 miles in Rochester
Construction Dates: May 2015
Construction Bid: $243,583
Traffic Impacts: Daily lanes closures.
Status: River City Electric
Highway 63 in Olmsted County (Project 1)
Description: Resurfacing and grading 6 miles from Highway 30 to 28th Street South in Rochester
Construction Dates: May 4 – June 30, 2015
Construction Estimate: $4,094,616
Traffic Impacts: Long-term lane closures and short-term ramp closures at Hwy 52
Status: Rochester Sand and Gravel
Highway 63 in Olmsted County (Project 2)
Description: Interchange reconstruction and airport access improvement, Rochester
Construction Dates: July 2015-August 2016
Construction Estimate: $5.3 million
Traffic Impacts: Intermittent lane closures
Status: Contract to be let on May 15, 2015
Highway 63 in Olmsted County (Project 3)
Description: Concrete pavement repair
Construction Dates: September-October 2015
Construction Cost: $2 million
Traffic Impacts: Long-term lane closures, short-term ramp closures at I-90
Status: PCI Roads
Interstate 90 in Olmsted, Winona counties
Description: Unbonded concrete overlay, westbound lanes from St. Charles to Eyota
Construction Dates: June 1 – Oct. 31, 2015
Construction Cost: $17,023,433
Traffic Impacts: Head to head traffic on eastbound with westbound ramp detours
