Interested in the Peace Corps? Head to the Rochester Public Library this Saturday

The Rochester Public Library will host an information session on the Peace Corps program this Saturday afternoon.

The event will include an overview of the Peace Corp's programs, the benefits of service, as well as the new application process. Organizers say a returning Peace Corps volunteer will also be on hand to talk about the experience.

Established in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, the Peace Corps works to promote world peace and friendship by tackling the most pressing needs of people around the world. Since its inception, nearly 222,000 American volunteers have served in 140 countries.

Event details:

  • Saturday, Aug. 1 at 12:30 p.m.
  • Rochester Public Library (Meeting Room A)
  • Free and open to the public
