Editor's pick: Accomplished chef opening pizzeria in new downtown building

A longtime chef has plans to open a pizza shop in downtown Rochester.

Pasquale's Neighborhood Pizzeria is scheduled to open this October inside the new 501 on First apartment complex. The 84-unit building, located next to the People's Food Co-op, is nearing the end of construction.

According to its website, Pasquale's will serve up authentic New York-style pizza "along with simple, traditional Italian food." The Facebook page also makes mention of gelato and fresh Italian pastries.

The owner of the restaurant, Pasquale Presa, is an experienced chef who most recently ran the kitchen of the Kahler Grand Hotel. Presa's bio says he was born in Italy and currently holds dual citizenship with Italy and the U.S.
